Introduction (What RECYCLINET is)
RECYCLINET is an initiative designed to make PET bottle collection and recovery easier and enable citizens to take practical action through sorting.
In its initial phase, the project focuses on PET bottles, a common and identifiable waste stream that is a priority for setting up the system.
Citizen participation is at the heart of the concept: RECYCLINET plans to introduce a reward mechanism that may acknowledge participation, subject to applicable rules.
At this stage, the project is not presented as immediately available: it is still in preparation, and this page describes the concept rather than an operational service.
How it works — overview
Preparing PET bottles — citizens set aside their PET bottles ahead of a collection.
Collection / pickup — depending on the system that will be put in place, collection may be carried out by a collector.
Validation — the collection and, where applicable, the weight may be validated according to the applicable rules.
Reward — a validated collection may lead to a reward under the applicable rules.
Why PET
PET is the priority stream of RECYCLINET's initial phase. The project aims to make its collection and recovery easier.
Rewards — concept
The reward is presented as a mechanism to encourage and recognize citizen participation.
The initial planned form of reward is phone recharge.
Monastir pilot
RECYCLINET's first pilot is planned for Monastir, Tunisia, and is currently in preparation.
